2.1 La relation fondamentale

Propriété. Pour tous réels a>0a > 0 et b>0b > 0, ln⁡(ab)=ln⁡a+ln⁡b.\ln(ab) = \ln a + \ln b.

ln⁡(1b)=−ln⁡b\ln\left(\dfrac1b\right) = -\ln b ln⁡b+ln⁡(1b)=ln⁡(b×1b)=ln⁡1=0\ln b + \ln\left(\dfrac1b\right) = \ln\left(b \times \dfrac1b\right) = \ln 1 = 0
ln⁡(ab)=ln⁡a−ln⁡b\ln\left(\dfrac{a}{b}\right) = \ln a - \ln b ab=a×1b\dfrac{a}{b} = a \times \dfrac1b
ln⁡(an)=nln⁡a\ln\left(a^n\right) = n\ln a enln⁡a=(eln⁡a)n=an\mathrm{e}^{n\ln a} = \left(\mathrm{e}^{\ln a}\right)^n = a^n (Première : enx=(ex)n\mathrm{e}^{nx} = \left(\mathrm{e}^x\right)^n)
ln⁡(a)=12ln⁡a\ln\left(\sqrt a\right) = \dfrac12\ln a a×a=a\sqrt a \times \sqrt a = a, donc 2ln⁡(a)=ln⁡a2\ln\left(\sqrt a\right) = \ln a

2.3 Exemples

Exemple 5.

  • ln⁡18=ln⁡(2×32)=ln⁡2+2ln⁡3\ln 18 = \ln\left(2 \times 3^2\right) = \ln 2 + 2\ln 3.
  • ln⁡(116)=−ln⁡(24)=−4ln⁡2\ln\left(\dfrac1{16}\right) = -\ln\left(2^4\right) = -4\ln 2.
  • ln⁡(12)=12ln⁡(22×3)=12(2ln⁡2+ln⁡3)=ln⁡2+12ln⁡3\ln\left(\sqrt{12}\right) = \dfrac12\ln\left(2^2 \times 3\right) = \dfrac12\left(2\ln 2 + \ln 3\right) = \ln 2 + \dfrac12\ln 3.
  • ln⁡0,75=ln⁡(34)=ln⁡3−2ln⁡2\ln 0{,}75 = \ln\left(\dfrac34\right) = \ln 3 - 2\ln 2.

Exemple 6. A=ln⁡(e3)−ln⁡(e)+ln⁡(1e2)=3−12−2=12A = \ln\left(\mathrm{e}^3\right) - \ln\left(\sqrt{\mathrm{e}}\right) + \ln\left(\dfrac1{\mathrm{e}^2}\right) = 3 - \dfrac12 - 2 = \dfrac12. B=ln⁡12−ln⁡3−ln⁡4=ln⁡(123×4)=ln⁡1=0B = \ln 12 - \ln 3 - \ln 4 = \ln\left(\dfrac{12}{3 \times 4}\right) = \ln 1 = 0.

Exemple 7. Pour tout réel x>0x > 0 : ln⁡(x2+x)−ln⁡x=ln⁡(x2+xx)=ln⁡(x+1)\ln\left(x^2 + x\right) - \ln x = \ln\left(\dfrac{x^2 + x}{x}\right) = \ln(x + 1).

Exemple 8. 3−5>03 - \sqrt5 > 0, car 5≈2,236\sqrt5 \approx 2{,}236. Donc ln⁡(3+5)+ln⁡(3−5)=ln⁡((3+5)(3−5))=ln⁡(9−5)=ln⁡4=2ln⁡2.\ln\left(3 + \sqrt5\right) + \ln\left(3 - \sqrt5\right) = \ln\left(\left(3 + \sqrt5\right)\left(3 - \sqrt5\right)\right) = \ln(9 - 5) = \ln 4 = 2\ln 2.

La règle ln⁡(an)=nln⁡a\ln\left(a^n\right) = n\ln a demande a>0a > 0.

ea+b=ea eb\mathrm{e}^{a + b} = \mathrm{e}^a\,\mathrm{e}^b ln⁡(ab)=ln⁡a+ln⁡b\ln(ab) = \ln a + \ln b
e−b=1eb\mathrm{e}^{-b} = \dfrac{1}{\mathrm{e}^b} ln⁡(1b)=−ln⁡b\ln\left(\dfrac1b\right) = -\ln b
ea−b=eaeb\mathrm{e}^{a - b} = \dfrac{\mathrm{e}^a}{\mathrm{e}^b} ln⁡(ab)=ln⁡a−ln⁡b\ln\left(\dfrac{a}{b}\right) = \ln a - \ln b
ena=(ea)n\mathrm{e}^{na} = \left(\mathrm{e}^a\right)^n ln⁡(an)=nln⁡a\ln\left(a^n\right) = n\ln a
